Mortgage loan application volume for the week ending November 4 increased 2.3% on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association's Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey, which was released today.

The seasonally-adjusted Purchase Index increased 6.4% and the Refinance Index decreased 3.4% from one week earlier.

"The economy continues its steady growth, creating jobs and providing support for the housing market," says Loans Chief Economist Bob Walters. "As interest rates rise, homeowners are migrating in droves away from adjustable rate mortgages, and into the safety of fixed rate mortgages."
